NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - PART 5 : FOUR FAMILY FRIENDLY HIKES IN YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK.

...And so we left civilization, driving through fields and fields of nomansland, the backcountry of California. Never take the road we’ve taken because what we did was dangerous. We drove for hours without seeing one house, no internet service, no gasstations. We just drove and drove and hoped we were driving towards Yosemite.

It was pitch dark when we arrived at Yosemite Pines, an RV park outside of Yosemite and recommended by Brian and Elein from EliteRVvacations. By now Nic knew with his eyes closed how to park the Airstream and not before long we were all peacefully snoozing. We all needed that rest to face the hikes we had planned the following days.

Bright and early the next morning we drove about 1 hour until we arrived at a good hiking spot. Yosemite is so big, you'd better know where you're going!

Every single hike we did was perfectly do-able with our kids who are 6, 10 and 11 and the diversity of the experiences was mind-blowing. Each time we reached a top we felt like heaven literally opened in front of us. Each of the hikes we did was kid friendly. The road to the top had so much variety and natural beauty that there was barely any whining.

1) 2000 year old Sequoiatrees anyone? Tualumne Grove is a great 2 hour hike to start. The hike gave us a fantastic insight on the actual 'grandeur' of the Sequoia trees, the hike was pretty flat and easily accessible.

2) Vernon waterfalls with an everlasting rainbow? Another 2 hour hike. This one is a lot steeper, no concrete walking paths. Take extra water mama's!

3) Taft point : this hike was our favorite. What makes this hike absolutely amazing is the height of the cliffs when you arrive at the top. Do not take this route if you are afraid of heights. Just standing closely made me dizzy and I had nightmares that night of kids pushing each other off.

4) Last on the bucket list was a Sunset hike to Glacier point. It was harder and longer than we thought it would be. Our legs were so sore after a few days of climbing but we still made it to the top right before sunset. The reward was absolutely magical. Unsurpassed by any other view in California. Bright orange and purple light on Half Dome, clear skies...probably one of the best family moments we have ever had and the perfect ending to our trip.

I hope you enjoyed coming along on our Airstream adventure.
Thank you for your continued support.
With love & gratitude,
Silvia
